What makes fresh goat’s milk an exceptional moisturizer?
The protein strands in fresh goat’s milk are shorter and therefore more easily absorbed by the skin. Fresh goat’s milk also contains capric and caprylic acids that help balance the alkalinity of human skin. Goat’s milk is rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals.

Where can you find Canus products?

Where do you get your goat milk from?
We work with a cooperative of family farms throughout Canada in order to source our fresh goat’s milk. The farm families are committed to raising their goats using the most humane methods possible – paying particular care to the diet and nutritional needs of their goats.

Are Canus products dermatology tested?
Yes, Canus products are dermatologist tested and recommended for dry-skin irritations such as Eczema, Psoriasis and Acne.

Are Canus products all natural?
Yes, all Canus products are all-natural. We also source organic ingredients from sustainable sources whenever possible.

Do Canus products contain parabens?
No, our products do not contain parabens. (Parabens are chemical preservatives that lengthen shelf-life. There is evidence that they may interfere with natural hormone function.)

Do your products and bottles have phthalates in them?
No - not in the product nor in the packaging. Recent studies in laboratory rodents indicate phthalates may cause changes in hormone levels, birth defects and compromise organ function.

Can the lotion be used on the face?
Yes, the body lotion is gentle enough to be used as a facial moisturizer.

Our U.S. headquarters are in Waterbury, Vermont. Our Canadian headquarters are in Quebec.

Why is fresh goat’s milk better than powdered?
Fresh goat’s milk retains its skin-nourishing nutrients and vitamins. Products based on powdered or dehydrated milk are heated so high that during the dehydration process the structure of the reconstituted milk is changed, decreasing its effectiveness. That’s why we only use fresh milk in all of our products.

What kinds of goats supply milk for Canus products?
There are six different breeds of dairy goats: Nubian, Alpine, LaMancha, Oberhasli, Saanen and Toggenburg

Where do the goats live?
The female goats (does) that supply Canus with their nutrient rich milk live on family farms all across Canada.

Are the goats well taken care of?
Yes, the farms that supply our milk are inspected regularly to make sure the goats are happy and healthy.

How do you milk the goats?
The goats are machine milked. They actually enjoy it. It is a very gentle procedure that relieves the doe from the pressure of a full bag. They are also feed grain and hay as they are milked. It’s really a favorite time of day if you’re a goat.

Do goats smell?
The males do! The does do not have as strong a scent.

How much milk per day does a goat produce?
Most goats produce 3-4 quarts a day. Overachievers can produce up to 7 quarts.

Does a goat have to be pregnant to give milk?
Yes, does (female goats) need to be bred and have kids in order to produce milk.

Because goat’s milk is so easy to digest. Each treat contains probiotics and enzymes for digestive health as well as chondroitin and glucosamine for joint health.

Where are the treats manufactured?
Nature’s Dog treats are manufactured using only the best ingredients and are made in Canada.

Are the treats wheat free, soy free and corn free? Are the ingredients human grade?
Yes, yes, yes and yes. Try one and see for yourself. The treats are also preservative-free and contain no artificial coloring or flavoring and no animal
by-products.

Are Nature's Dog products safe for puppies?
Yes, because goat’s milk is very gentle, little puppy tummies can handle them with ease.

Can you use Nature’s Dog grooming products on dogs with irritated (hot spots) or dry skin?
Yes, they are especially good for sensitive skin and have special botanicals to help soothe and heal hotspots. Tea Tree and Meadowfoam seed oils relieve and heal dry skin and hot spots while shea butter helps condition and bring a healthy shine to the coat.

What is the shampoo Bar and how does that work?
It’s a bar like a bar of soap but it’s solid Nature’s Dog shampoo! In bar form, it’s easier to scrub up a good lather and clean those really dirty spots.

How do I use the wipes?
Keep them by the door. When you come in from a muddy walk, just grab a wipe and use it to remove the dirt. They’re gentle enough to use around the eyes and ears. Keep some in your car, too! Because they are pre-moistened with fresh goat’s milk and conditioners, they are a great way to help maintain a shiny and clean coat between washes. You can use them anywhere your dog needs a little skin rescue including cracked pads or hot spots.
