Why Fresh Goat’s Milk?
What makes Canus products different?
Goat’s milk has curative properties, which is what first drew the attention of Canus owners André Beauregard and Andrée Falardeau. The two founders agreed that to fully capitalize on the beneficial effects of these properties, only fresh goat’s milk would be used. Powdered goat’s milk is more stable and easier to preserve, but it loses its properties when dehydrated. The goat’s milk used in our products is homogenized naturally. All our products are made with a concentrate formulated from fresh goat’s milk.
The Canus formula is a concentrate combining the active agents found in fresh goat’s milk. It contains three times more fat than actual goat’s milk.
The Quebec grown goats that produce the milk we use are raised in conditions that reflect their natural habitat and the environment in general. The goat feed used is:
- free of transgenic content (GMOs)
- free of hormonal agents
The distinct properties of goat’s milk are recognized worldwide.
Goat’s milk is a rich source of short-chain triglycerides (capric, caproic and caprylic acid). These fatty acids are widely used in skin care products for pH balancing the skin. They are recognized for their moisturizing effect, but mostly for their antibacterial properties.
High concentrations of caprylic acid promote the absorption of emollients (skin softeners) found in goat’s milk. This also helps relax the skin’s surface.
Goat’s milk produces natural components that are small in size. These are easily absorbed by the skin, keeping the skin well moisturized
Goat’s milk is significantly higher in vitamins and minerals than cow’s milk (niacin, Vitamin A, potassium, etc.).
